Tranquil Transition Tips: "Setting the scene"
Consider incorporating some or all of the five senses into your tranquil transition. Creating a comforting environment can help reduce anxiety and fears, promote relaxation, and promote a peaceful passing.
Sight:
Make the space visually appealing by removing clutter, medical supplies, or anything else that may be displeasing.
Lighting- Natural lighting, or dim lights.
Incorporate person belongings/objects- favorite blanket, pictures of family and friends.
Sound: (Hearing is the last sense)
Music, prayers, or the television playing your favorite movie.
Friends and family voices
Touch:
Physical touch by family, friends or pets.
Warm blanket, favorite robe.
Smell:
A favorite scent, or relaxing essential oils.
Taste:
Mints, ice pops, small sips of your favorite drink.
